Systematic list - part 15: Mammals, Reptiles and Amphibians
Rabbit Oryctolagus cuniculus (12+)
Recorded at several locations – all at or close to the coast.
Weasel Mustela nivalis (1)
1 ran across the road somewhere, possibly Mount Etna, on 25th April or 26th April (I forgot to note this down and don't recall the location).
Bat sp. (1)
A distant Yellow-legged Gull flying in off the sea at Portopalo di Capo Passero seemed to be flying strangely... on closer inspection through the telescope I could see that it was chasing something much smaller. The flight recalled a bat and what little I could discern of structure and colour seemed to be consistent with that ID. Given that it appeared to be coming in from the sea and it was the best part of 2 hours after dawn, my guess is that it was a migrant species.

Green Lizard sp. Lacerta sp.
I think you get Western Green Lizard Lacerta bilineata in Sicily, although whether this is the species I photographed or not, I don't know.

Wall Lizard sp. Podarcis sp.
I believe both Italian Wall Lizard Podarcis siculus and Sicilian Wall Lizard Podarcis waglerianus occur in Sicily but I've no idea how to separate them from each other or from any other similar species that may also occur there. Whatever they were they were very common. Not sure if all the following photos are Wall Lizards even - any help with their ID would be much appreciated!
Common Toad Bufo bufo (1)
1 at Monteluce - this individual looks rather different from the Common Toads I'm used to seeing but so far as I can tell it has to be this species.
