Grey-headed Kingfisher (Chestnut-bellied Kingfisher) Halcyon leucocephala [1]

1 Liwonde 27th. An intra-African migrant which breeds in Malawi but they are much scarcer at this time of year.

No Brown-hooded Kingfishers seen this time, despite several at Liwonde when we came in 2008.

Striped Kingfisher Halcyon chelicuti [11]

Although this trip fared worse than the last one for Kingfishers, we did a little better for this species:

Up to 6 Lengwe 20th-21st, 1 Dzalanyama 23rd and 1-2 Liwonde 25th and 27th.

The commonest, or at least most conspicuous, Kingfisher.
