Griffon Vulture (Eurasian Griffon) Gyps fulvus
This is the commonest vulture in Mediterranean Europe, but unlikely to be encountered in the UK. A record of two together in Derbyshire in 1927 was the subject of a recent review and found it to be unacceptable so the species has now been removed from the British list. Vagrancy to the UK is certainly a possibility though and there have been a number of recent records elsewhere in north-west Europe, including some large flocks in Belgium and Netherlands. Escaped vultures are occasionally encountered here, including the closely related and fairly similar Rüppell’s Griffon Vulture.
