Green-winged Teals are scarce but regular visitors to the UK from North America. They were formerly regarded as a race of our Teal Anas crecca but now most authorities regard them as a separate species.

When identifying out of range Green-winged Teals, care must be taken to eliminate hybirds with Eurasian Teal.
