Cory's Shearwater Calonectris borealis
The three forms of shearwater previously collectively known as Cory's Shearwater have now been split into three species:
- Scopoli's Shearwater Calonectris diomedea - the Mediterranean form
- Cory's Shearwater Calonectris borealis - the Atlantic form - this is the one which most often occurs in British waters, mainly as a late summer migrant off south-western coasts but occasionally elsewhere (it's recorded annually off Norfolk).
- Cape Verde Shearwater Calonectris edwardsii.
So far the only form I have photographed is Scopoli's Shearwater, so now that this form is no longer treated as a race of Cory's Shearwater I have removed the photos from this page.
