Chukar Alectoris chukar
A species of south-east Europe and the Middle East but released birds have been found in many other areas. Chukars were regularly released into the British countryside where they hybridised readily with Red-legged Partridges but it became illegal to release them in the mid 90s. Although hybrids continued to be recorded for a few years they are now relatively unlikely to be encountered in the UK.
